Antioxidant Effects of Methanol Extract of Dracocephalum kotschyi in Acetic Acid Induced Rat Colitis Model

Background: There is a worldwide trend towards substitute synthetic antioxidants with natural alternatives to treat inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) such as ulcerative colitis (UC). This study was conducted to evaluate the effects of Dracocephalum kotschyi extract on tissue injury and oxidative stress in an acetic-acid induced colitis model.

Is dairy foods restriction mandatory for inflammatory bowel disease patients: a multinational cross-sectional study

Background: The role of dairy foods in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) has been controversial and it is debatable if patients with IBD should avoid milk and dairy products or not, as well as the relationship between these foods and symptoms among those population. This multi centric cross-sectional study designed to evaluate if it is really necessary to deprive IBD patients from consumption of dairy foods.

Protective effects of walnut extract against oxidative damage in acetic acid-induced experimental colitis rats

Background: Walnuts (Juglans regia), has been shown to exert anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects. The present study was designed to evaluate the antiinflammatory and antioxidant effects of walnut extract (WE) on an experimental model of ulcerative colitis caused by intracolonic administration of acetic acid in rats.

Sleep quality and associated factors in Iranian inflammatory bowel disease patients

Background: Sleep is essential in maintaining health and quality of life. Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) patients suffer from poor sleep quality. This study aimed to investigate the prevalence of sleep disturbances in Iranian IBD patients as well as the variables which can be attributed to the quality of sleep in IBD patients.

background: Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) might be an immunodeficiency rather than an excessive inflammatory reaction. IBD, suspected to primary immunodeficiency diseases biobank (IBDSPIDB) as a resource for researches can help improve the prevention, diagnosis, and illness treatment and the health promotion throughout the society. Therefore, we launched the biobank of IBDSPID for the first time in Iran.

Pulmonary function tests in ulcerative colitis

Background: Pulmonary impairment in patients suffering ulcerative colitis (UC) has been suggested by several investigators using standard pulmonary function tests (PFTs). This changes in pulmonary function associated with minimal respiratory symptoms have been documented, especially in patients with active disease. The aim of this prospective study was to determine airway resistance and lung volumes in patients with UC who have no respiratory symptoms in comparisons to a healthy control group.
